Phoenix and Connecticut finished their meeting with a very short score difference of 3pts (79 - 82) in favor of the latter. The first half was very bouncing as the teams tried hard to steal the iniative one from the other. Having gained a 3pt-advantage in the first quarter, Phoenix let the leadership to Connecticut in the second period. Actually, this performance of Connecticut was crucial as it helped the team to resist in the second half and snatch the victory. Still, both teams should be given credit for playing a very collective game (19-20 in assisting). But Connecticut were stronger at rebounding, which helped them to take more opportunities to score.

Both teams showed a pattern of team-work as they performed a lot of assists (22-24). Still, Los Angeles were better at rebounding, which allowed them to get more opportunities to score.

Indiana play up to the mark

The loss of Minnesota to Indiana was a disaster as they were down by 38pts because of being absolutely unable to cope with Indiana's pressure. The latter established control at the very beginning and Minnesota never managed to oppose any deserving resistance. Moreover, in the final quarter they seemed to be really disvouraged and were inflicted 20-8, which was a kind of "insurance shot" from Fever. In this game Lynx never managed to shoot any 3-pointer and could boast only 12 effective shots inside the key. On the other hand, they performed 27FT but it could not save them as their opponent made from the FT line only 5 shots less.

They made a very good start to gain 13pts at the end of the first quarter. They even managed to increase the gap in the third quarter by inflicting 16-24 on Los Angeles, but the latter showed another face in the final period and really made the opponent tremble: Los Angeles were so much in rage that they managed to reduce the difference up to 4pts and were very close to winning.

Disastrous defeat of Tulsa

Chicago destroyed Tulsa with an enormous score difference of 25pts! Actually, he winner made their performance in the first and in the last quarters, as for Tulsa, they could still keep hopes to catch up as in the first quarter they were losing only by 7pts and in the following two periods were up to the mark constraining the pressure of the opponent. Unfortunately for them, they totally collapsed in the final 10 minutes when they were inflicted a disastrous 9-27. Chicago could be proud of their prolific shooting effort and a very collaborative game with 26ass! They were also stronger at rebounding, which allowed them to get more oppotrunities to score.

Shavonte Zellous' revival
|
|
|
|
| |
After one very successful rookie season last year with Detroit, where she averaged 11.9ppg, Shavonte Zellous experienced a very slow beginning of the season while playing for the new franchise of Tulsa. But after being traded to Indiana, it seems that she totally got her sensations back as in only 4 games she became the third scorer of the team with 11.3ppg and had a great performance of 23pts to lead Indiana to a win over New-York 78-73 last Saturday. The one who was suggested by the analysts to the National team to represent USA at the World Championships in Czech Republic seems to be on the good way.

A chance for 24

| |
Pierre Vincent, the coach of the French National Team announced the list of 24 players who will have a chance to represent France at the next World Championship in Riga. The challenge is hard as France will arrive there with the status of the European Champion, moreover, they also had to face the retirement of very experienced players such as Cathy Melain and Emmanuelle Hermouet, which makes Pierre Vincent's task very hard. However, the objective for the French federation is clear, their main goal is to be qualified for the Olympic Games in London and for that they need a strong team in the next European championship, in 2011. So, definitely Pierre Vincent has to integrate young talents who will be able to show themselves next year and bisides, he also counts on such experienced players as Celine Dumerc and Sandrine Gruda.
Here is the list of the players:
Marielle AMANT Clémence BEIKES Virginie BREMONT Ana Maria CATA CHITIGA Jennifer DIGBEU Céline DUMERC Elodie GODIN Emilie GOMIS Johanne GOMIS Sandrine GRUDA Pauline JANNAULT Marion LABORDE Anaël LARDY Florence LEPRON Sarah MICHEL Endéné MIYEM Emmeline NDONGUE Fatimatou SACKO Yacine SENE Doriane TAHANE Ingrid TANQUERAY Diandra TCHATCHOUANG Allison VERNEREY Isabelle YACOUBOU-DEHOUI

Atlanta inflicted a serious defeat on Los Angeles by defeating them 101 - 82. We can say that the most of intrigue was in the second half as at the beginning the game was quite balanced (with 42-45 at the half time). But after the big break Atlanta showed their teeth to paralize the opponent who were unable to resist and had nothing but to collapse. Atlanta were amazing at playing with a team spirit and made a very remarkable performance at 2pt-shooting (41 shots scored). They were also very good at aggressiveness as they made Los Angeles accumulate many turnovers.
