Short win of Auburn

Auburn gained a very short win over Valparaiso at home as the score was tight during the whole game and Valparaiso fought until the end. Valparaiso showed better consistence in their shooting effort but Auburn, led by terrific Keke Carrier, made a great rebounding performance (18 offensive rebounds) and got more points from the FT line.

UCONN routs beats Iona 90 – 35

Maya Moore tied a season high with 23 points to lead the Huskies to yet another blowout, 90-35 over Iona on Sunday night.
Tiffany Hayes scored 15 points, Meghan Gardler had 14, and Kalana Greene added 13 points for UCONN. The Huskies (9-0) shot 54 percent from the field and forced 34 turnovers.

Auburn win on a visit

Napoli: to steal the victory

The game between Napoli and Chieti was very suspenseful as Napoli had a very good start but the visitors managed to tie the score at 36 at the end of the third quarter. Dynamo got their sixth win in six games by inflicting a large loss on Ruse 69-46. The Club association, in reaction to the decision of the Spanish Federation to play the "Copa de la Reina" with only 4 teams, officially anounced that they will paralyse the competition for the next two games which were supposed to be played on December 19th and 22nd. They consider the "Copa de la Reina" to be the main event of the season, the one which has the best media coverage and brings very good promotion for the sponsors. As a matter of fact, they request the Federation to reconsider their decision and get back to eight teams...

Euroleague Group D

Spartak Moscow litterally destroyed Fenerbahce by showing tremendous efficiency in their shooting effort and thanks to a great rebounding performance (they grabbed 17 offensive rebounds). Fenerbahce demonstrated a deserving fight and tried to get some points from the free-throws line but they accumulated a lot of turnovers.

Dynamo Moscow lost at home to Orenburg 66 - 76. The Moscow team made a really good start and even got a 23pts lead at the half time. But the visitors showed another face after the big break and in the second half it was already their turn to show the teeth. They vigirously seized the initiative and managed to break the course of the game, which allowed them to walk away with the win. Vologda defeated Kursk with a tremendous score 88 - 60. It must be a very satisfactory win for Vologda as in Superleague A they rank much lower than Kursk in the standings. After the long break the hosts were so much outraged that even inflicted on the visitors 26-7 in the last quarter. Paradox by Krakow

What a big paradox between Krakow's performances in the Euroleague and in the Polish league as whereas they are currently the leader of the Euroleague Group B, they experienced another loss in Poland being defeated by Polkowice and are now ranking 4th in the Polish standings. What a great performance for Montpellier it was when they defeated Arras at home 84-72 at the end of a very competitive game. Arras displayed a better start but Montpellier raised their game in the second quarter to get a 15pts lead at the half time. Great efforts by Arras allowed them to tie the score at 59 at the end of the third quarter but they didn't manage to resist in the final ten minutes as the hosts demonstrated a better three-point shooting performance and also showed tremendous aggressiveness getting 30pts from the free-throws line.

But Gorbunova's two-pointer saved the honour of Salamanca at the last second. What a great performance for Gyor who defeated Pecs 68-64, thanks to a terrific come back in the final ten minutes. Gorzow lost at home in a very tight game with Rivas (79 - 82). To say it was a tight game is to say nothing. The score at the half time was 39-39, but after the big break the guests made a deserving acceleration to get a 10pts lead, which in the end helped them to win. In the fourth quarter it was already Gorzow's turn to seize the initiative but their effort was 3pts weaker than the the one made by Rivas in the third quarter. More disappointing this loss should be for Gorzow as they were really ahead of their opponent in many sectors (in assisting: 17-9, offensive rebounding: 10-2, stealing: 9-6). And let alone their three-point shooting performance, where they scored 10 shots! In theor turn, Rivas can boast that out of six players who participated in the game, five scored double figures.

The third match-up of the qualifying round in group B was between Beretta-Famila and Mizo Pecs and finished in favor of the hosts with quite a close score 69 - 62. The Italian team took the initiative at the beginning og the match and got a 40-28 lead at the half time. This margin of 12pts helped them not to lose thir win in the second half when Pecs woke up and increased their pressure. Pecs problem was the fact thant they were not really collaborative whereas Beretta performed 11ass and inflicted 14 turnovers on the opponent. Still, it was definitely Italians' two-point shooting performance which helped them to win as in three-pointers and free throws their results are worse then Pecs'.

Great effort changed the result

A terrific scoring effort in the first half allowed Auburn to defeat North Carolina on their home court as they were leading 42-32 at the half time.
