In Group A there is no suspense as Vilnius and Riga have only one win each, so they don't have any chance to reach the eighth-finals. The other teams will just fight for their position in the standings. UMMC Ekaterinburg rank first, their roster
was completed with the American superstar Candace Parker, so the forecasts say it will be very hard to beat them. Ros Casares will play an important game at home to assert their second position and keep some hopes to reach top seed as they host Taranto. By the way, they will end the season without their young talented center Regina Palusna who suffered a new injury. Taranto will have a good chance to steal from Ros Casares the second position in the standings, if they win tonight, whereas it will be hard for Galatasaray to get a better place as they play their two last games against Ekaterinburg and Ros Casares.
In Group B, Krakow, Salamanca and Schio are safe, just the two first teams changed their rosters: Krakow hosted Gdynia's former playmaker, Paulina Pawlak, whereas Salamanca decided to let Olexandra Gorbunova come back to Ukraine and hired the Croatian forward, Emilja Podrug, coming from Gdynia. Gospic, who signed Croatian center Ivona Matic coming from Aix en Provence, will meet tonight with Pecs for a crucial game as the winner will have a good chance to take the last spot and reach the eighth-finals. The task will be harder for Villeneuve d'Ascq as first, they will host Salamanca and second, will travel to Pecs for the last game. But nothing is impossible and all the teams can keep some hopes.
Group C is definitely the most competitive one. Except for Rivas who are sure to keep their top seed, all the teams can claim to rank from the second place to the last one. Prague have a good chance to know about their future if they defeat Kosice tonight at home. Bourges' task will be hard as they host Gorzow, who
recruited the talented Swedish center Louice Halvarsson coming from Spartak Moscow, and Sopron definitely need to make a great performance on Rivas' home court to keep on believing in their chance and making as great as they did last season.
Lastly, in Group D the main favorite Spartak Moscow Region clearly sit enthroned on the roof of the Euroleague as they are the only team undefeated; they were joined by the American superstar Sue Bird. After them, Brno and Fenerbahce are safe but will compete to get the second spot as both of them have 5 wins and 3 losses. Still, it won't be easy for them as they play against teams who really need points to take the fourth place and stay in the road. That's how it is, in the bottom of the standings, Gdynia, Szeged and Tarbes all have 2 wins and 6 losses and all have to fight for a chance to qualify. It will be very hard for Tarbes who are hosting Spartak tonight and who will travell to Fenerbahce for the last game. But with their new recruitment, Australian international player Emma Randall they are allowed to keep some hopes. Szeged will have to struggle hard while playing on Fenerbahce's home court and make a miracle in the last game while hosting Brno. Finally, Gdynia definitely have to win over Brno tomorrow night as we don't see them defeating Spartak on their home court next wednesday.
